| Kate Goldman Senior Account Executive How long have you been at SENSEI? Since March, 2004. What is your role at SENSEI? I'm a senior account executive. Right now I work on our aspirin and new business accounts. How did you get to SENSEI? I love this story. I've known Susan for three years because I had responded to an alumni network career posting that a FRIEND-OF-SENSEI had sent for Susan when she needed an assistant. When I met with Susan she said, "This is such an inappropriate job for you, but you're going to stay on my radar." We've maintained this friendship ever since. My background is in healthcare, adolescent health and biology in particular. When I decided not to go to medical school I realized that I could do anything I wanted, and that I did not have to stay in medicine. I got very lucky and got a great job in a then-new field and loved it. The company is a record label, a retailer, and a marketing company. I did the marketing for all the labels that we carried in our store and then built the brand, doing the business development for them. So I had all this science and health background and now this marketing and consumer background, so that's how it all comes together. Is this a good fit? This is a career, definitely. Having come here is justification for every year out of college. And I like to think this has made my parents happy, to be very honest. Did you know what you wanted to be when you grew up? When I went to college, all I wanted to be was a broadcast analyst. I wanted to be the next Tom Brokaw. Then I interned at the White House, the Office of Public Liaison for a year and I was so completely deflated. I couldn't imagine myself there. Do you have a role model? At the risk of sounding ridiculous, I have found SENSEI to be a hotbed of role models. I felt so lucky when I came here that for the first time I was in an environment where there were women to look up to and women I saw as mentors... finally. What are three things you couldn't live without? Exercise, music, being loved. |
